San Antonio – April 13, 2012 ‐ The local housing market continues to grow reflecting the strong economic climate of the city according to the March 2012 Multiple Listing Service report by the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR). Key housing indicators all improved in March 2012 compared with March 2011. Housing statistics continued their upswing for the third consecutive month this year.

Information for SABOR Members: Plan to participate in the 2012 REALTOR® Nationwide Open House Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, April 28 & 29. Join SABOR and other local REALTOR® associations across the country hosting the nation’s largest open house campaign. Expect regular updates and promotional materials from SABOR to support the campaign. REALTOR® R Balloons are now available at the SABOR REALTOR® Store at no charge (only two balloons per listing and only available to members who have open houses scheduled for that weekend). Place these balloons in front of your properties as a means to drive buyer traffic. In the meantime, mark the properties that will be open houses in the MLS system by Friday, April 20th. SABOR will pull the listings of open houses scheduled for the weekend of April 28 & 29 and place them on SABOR.com for members of the community. The San Antonio Board of REALTORS^® will host a HEROES WELCOME HOME program on April 10, an education initiative to prepare San Antonio REALTORS^® in serving the housing needs of our military community. REALTORS^® interested in participating should register via IMS.

San Antonio REALTORS^® are tackling an issue that they expect to see more of over the next few months and years. Housing sales have taken on a different character for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Heroes Welcome Home Program Gives Back

San Antonio, Texas (March 21, 2012) – The San Antonio Board of REALTORS^® will host a Heroes Welcome Home Program on April 10, an education initiative to prepare San Antonio REALTORS^® in serving the housing needs of our military community. 

“We believe in giving back to the community by creating programs that serve the unique needs of military families in San Antonio,” SABOR President and CEO Angela Shields said. “The program takes a comprehensive approach to educating REALTORS^® and provides them with the tools and resources they need to effectively counsel veterans, including disabled veterans, on their real estate options.”
