Committees

Affiliate Partner – Gives direction and support to the Affiliate member by providing Affiliate Orientations, communicating consistently, and by increasing the value of and enhancing sponsorship opportunities in an effort to increase the overall value of an Affiliate membership. Additionally, focuses on strengthening the mutual value and support between the SABOR REALTOR® members and the Affiliate members. (Affiliate Members only!)

Communication – Enhances the communication to the REALTOR® and the public. Coordinate and support communication efforts for all departments, committees, institutes, societies and councils at the San Antonio Board of REALTORS®.

Education - Provides information, instruction and education on pertinent matters to members of SABOR. Conduct Orientation for new members. Advise the Board of new developments and secure qualified speakers on real estate. Coordinate GRI and other designation courses. Promote and insure maximum possible attendance at all programs, meetings, and seminars. Promote SABOR membership among licensees. Plans, coordinates, promotes and provides an Education Day and Trade Show for the member. The day includes guest speakers, and education sessions generally including MCE.

Equal Opportunity in Housing – The EOH Committee has worked throughout the years to educate SABOR membership on diverse housing issues/opportunities. They have accomplished this objective through hosting a series of educational programs and seminars that included: Down Payment Assistance Programs, What Fannie Mae & HUD Can Do For You, Energy Efficient Initiatives, Freddie Mac’s Pilot Programs for Texas called “CreditSmart” and CreditSmart Español and Fannie Mae’s Emerging Markets programs.

Farm & Land – Promote cooperation among all REALTORS® specializing in farms, land and transitional properties. Encourage the exchange of practical professional information through marketing sessions, panel discussions and educational courses and such other methods deemed expedient.

Governmental Affairs – This committee delves into political and community-based issues that could affect SABOR membership, in addition to conducting candidate interviews on local and state levels.

Member Benefits - The Member Benefits Committee exists to recommend and review programs, products, and services that enhance the value of membership for the San Antonio Board of REALTORS®.

Multiple Listing Service - Govern operation of the Multiple Listing Service. Chairman of the Board Appointment Only - Two-year term.

Property Management – The Property Management Committee has many objectives that are reviewed and / or considered during the year. They continually study and interpret legislation that affects rental property. Focuses on tenant/ landlord laws and assists in creating curriculum for effective education and to relay the information through the committee meetings. This committee is not just for property management companies, but for all REALTORS®.

Program – The Program Committee will plan, develop and implement the Special Member-ship Programs* of SABOR. The Committee will assist in the promotion of special programs and encourage attendance. Act as the welcome committee for the programs/events. Note: *Town Hall, Installation, General Membership Meeting and other events as assigned.

REALTOR®/Builder – The Committee hosts an annual Bus Tour that educates members on the newest subdivision developments in San Antonio. They also host both a spring and fall New Home Construction Class series. The REALTOR®/Builder Committee strives to promote closer cooperation/relationship between REALTORS® and Builders.

REALTOR® Image Campaign – The REALTOR®/Image Campaign Committee works to promote the professionalism and use of a REALTOR® and to effectively communicate this message throughout the community. A marketing plan is devised annually and implemented to encompass the promotional objectives established by the SABOR Governing Board and this Committee.

TREPAC (Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee) – This Committee plans, promotes and coordinates fundraising activities through a variety of events held throughout the year. Monies raised from these events help achieve the annual TREPAC fundraising goal. This goal is determined by membership levels of the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® and is established by the Texas Association of REALTORS®.

YPN (Young Professionals Network) – The Greater San Antonio YPN Chapter is a group of emerging real estate professionals who seek to stay informed of the latest business tools from which local REALTOR® members can benefit. YPN seeks to create opportunities for professional development through education, technology, and as a provider of innovative resources. Serve the community through philanthropic involvement and consumer advocacy. (REALTOR® Members Only!)

Task Force

Forms – Task Force reviews forms and contracts for deficiencies, errors, omissions, etc. Study suggested changes to forms and contracts and make recommendations (if any) to the Board of Directors.
 

Open Meeting Policy

 
Meetings of the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR) are open to all SABOR members, with the exception of Grievance Committee meetings (when cases are being reviewed) and Professional Standards Hearings.

Meetings of the Board of Directors are open, and SABOR members are welcome to attend subject to space limitations.  However, the Chairman of the Board may declare an Executive Session at any time and guests will be excused.  Guests wishing to speak to a specific issue at the Directors meeting should register with the Chairman of the Board prior to the call to order.  If a guest does not register for a specific agenda item, their input will be at the discretion of the Chairman of the Board.
