Committees and Task Force Duties

Affiliate Partner
- Gives direction and support to the Affiliate member by providing Affiliate Orientations, communicating consistently, and by increasing the value of and enhancing sponsorship opportunities in an effort to increase the overall value of an Affiliate membership.
- Focuses on strengthening the mutual value and support between the SABOR REALTOR® members and the Affiliate members.
Budget & Finance/Investment*
- This committee will be chaired by the Secretary/Treasurer and members shall be members of the Executive Committee.
- Prepares and reviews the budget and special appropriations.
- Examines and supervises finances of the Board.
- Monitors dues and non-dues revenue for operating SABOR and makes recommendations for any changes or additions to such funding.
- Serves on the Investment Strategy Task Force when this group meets.
- Monitors and enforces delinquent accounts.
- Works on projects or programs as the committee desires.
Bylaws
- This Committee will be chaired by the Secretary/Treasurer.
- Study proposed amendments to the Bylaws and submit all proposed revisions and amendments to the Board of Directors for approval prior to submission to the General Membership.
- Properly word and place in Bylaws, changes as directed by the Board of Directors for approval by General Membership.
- Submit approved changes in Bylaws for publication notice.
- Submit published changes to all members at a General Business Meeting for approval.
Communications Committee

Enhance communication to the REALTOR® and the public.

Determine what SABOR needs to communicate to the member.

Determine what to communicate on SABOR.com

Evaluate all delivery tools to enhance effective communication.

Examine new ways of sending information to the membership.

Utilize cross-marketing to expand communication efforts.
Education & Programs
- Plan educational seminars and roundtables, and secure speakers.
- Prepare programs, brochures and other materials for educational seminars and roundtables.
- Assist Staff in setting up educational programs and courses.
- Cooperate with colleges and universities in development of real estate training.
- Set up a speaker's bureau for SABOR.
- Design and present SABOR New Member Orientation.
- Develop programs for Board General Membership functions.
- Promote and insure maximum attendance at all programs, meetings and seminars.
- Welcome visitors and guests at breakfasts.
- Promote SABOR membership among licensees.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement the annual REALTOR® Rally.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement continuing education for Town Hall meetings.
- Conduct continuing education courses to surrounding Boards members.
- Offer on-line courses for pre-licensing and continuing education courses.
- Promote the SABOR Real Estate School.
Equal Opportunity in Housing (EOH)
- Keep membership informed on laws and standards of practice and procedure.
- Host educational programs and seminars to disseminate this information.
- Other duties as assigned by Board of Directors.
- Provides financing, credit and diversity training programs.
- Promotes fair housing and homeownership months.
Farm and Land
- Promote cooperation among Brokers specializing in farms, land and transitional properties.
- Encourage the exchange of practical and professional information through marketing sessions, panel discussions and educational courses and such other methods deemed expedient.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Board of Directors.
Forms*
- Develop and revise the Board's standard real estate forms.
- Works through staff to coordinate with the Board's Attorney on the development and approval of standard real estate forms.
- Review all forms used by SABOR from time to time for completeness and adequacy.
- Review all forms developed or revised by other committees before final approval.
- Submit all forms to the Board of Directors for final approval.
- Perform other duties as requested by Board of Directors.
- Reviews TAR & TREC proposed forms and submits comments/recommendations through the Board of Directors.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Governmental Affairs
- Legislative:
- Monitor local, state and federal legislative activity affecting private property rights and the real estate industry and keep the membership informed.
- Educate and inform the membership on the legislative process.
- Keep governmental officials informed on the REALTOR® position with issues affecting the real estate industry.
- Work with other associations, community groups and business leaders on specific problem solving in the community.
- Political Affairs:
- Increase member awareness of the need for political involvement on an ongoing basis.
- Identify members who are active in political parties or campaigns.
- Recruit and educate new volunteers in political and campaign activities.
- Establish and maintain contact network to mobilize grassroots organization efficiently and effectively.
- Recruit and support REALTORS® for elective or appointed offices.
- Interview candidates for local public office and make recommendations on endorsements to the Board of Directors.
- Arrange for meetings between members and Legislators holding local, state or national positions.
- Chairman/Vice Chairman to join TREPAC and participate in their meetings.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Board of Directors.
Multiple Listing Service (MLS)
- Govern operation of Multiple listing Service
- Recommend revisions of rules and regulations and forms to the Board of Directors.
- Furnish MLS speakers to Education Committee for SABOR Orientation and other programs.
- Works with the N.A.R. and T.A.R. MLS Committees to share information and maintain a line of communication.
- Plan for improvement of MLS computer system and recommend changes to upgrade systems.
- Set up MLS training sessions computer seminars for MLS members.
- Serves as the CSS Advisory Board.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Board of Directors.
Nominating
- Shall meet as required in Bylaws to nominate Officers and Directors.
Past Presidents' Council
- Review all applications for Life Membership.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Board of Directors.
Profesional Standards
SABOR’s Professional Standards Program is being administered by the Texas Association of REALTORS® (TAR). Watch for notification in Texas REALTOR® Focus (TAR) for committee sign up. Sign up is online at texasrealtors.org.
- (Grievance) Investigate, upon the written complaint of any person, the action of any members when there is a reason to believe such member is alleged to have violated an Article of the Code of Ethics, or when there is a request for arbitration.
- (Professional Standards) - Act upon any infraction of membership rules and decide upon all matters submitted for ethics and/or arbitration.
- Required to attend a Texas Association of REALTORS® Professional Standards training session to initially serve and annual training thereafter.
Individuals assigned to TAR's Professional Standards Committee may serve on either a Grievance or Professional Standards panel. Members are required to attend a Texas Association of REALTORS® Professional Standards training session to initially serve and annual training thereafter. SABOR makes every attempt to offer one Professional Standards Training session per year
Property Management
- The membership of this committee shall contain members of SABOR and ex-officio members from related organizations.
- Provide suggested professional operational procedures for SABOR members.
- Review and inform the membership of legislation affecting rental property.
- Offer seminars and/or courses relating to property management.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Board of Directors.
REALTOR® Awards
- The Selection Committee should be composed of the Chairmen and/or Vice Chairmen of various committees; there should be 7 people on the committee each year, not less than 1 or more than 3 to serve in consecutive years to provide continuity; the chairman or vice chairman should have served on the Selection Committee in the previous year.
- Time frame for the Selection Committee meetings: August to November - "Advertise" for nominees (forms at Breakfasts, Newsline and Keeping Posted), include criteria, reasons why nominee should be selected, research on specifics can be done from files; Not later than the first Friday in November - Cut off for nominees, committee to meet and review nominees; the names of the final selectee in each category shall be announced to the individual who nominated them in that category.
- Format - Recognize only winners during event.
- Categories to be titled: Broker of the Year, Salesman of the Year and Affiliate of the Year, Distinguished Service Award (High Honor, and may not necessarily be given every year), Rookie of the Year and Special Achievement (may not necessarily be given every year).
- Promote program.
REALTOR®/Builder
- Promote cooperation between REALTORS® and Builders.
- Work with both groups in the promotion of new home sales.
- Prepare programs to be used by both organizations in the sale of new homes.
- Work together on The Parade of Homes and other projects.
- Provide featured Builders each month for committee meetings.
- Host an annual Bus Tour.
- Host one or two Construction Class Series based on demand.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Board of Directors.
REALTORS® Commercial Alliance
- Stimulate and facilitate the sale, lease and exchange of real property for investment.
- Promote the best interests of the public by creating a wide and more active market for real estate investment.
- Elevate the professional abilities of RCA members through education and the exchange of information and experience.
- Oversee the development and implementation of the William Fleming Commercial Award.
REALTOR® Image Campaign
- Promote the value, professionalism and use of a REALTOR®.
- Develop an annual marketing plan to most effectively promote this campaign encompassing the promotional objectives established by the SABOR Board of Directors and this Committee.
- Promote the use of the REALTOR® pin.
- Maintain and promote the use of SABOR's Etiquette Guide, "Pathways to Professionalism".
- Perform other duties as requested by the Board of Directors.
San Antonio REALTORS® Political Action Committee (SARPAC)
- SARPAC shall be operated solely and exclusively for the purpose of securing the nomination or election of candidates seeking elective office in the City of San Antonio, Texas and County of Bexar, Texas, other than any federal or state office and to assist incumbent elected officials in the discharge of lawful campaign expenses by raising funds for political action and from such funds making contributions to those nominees, candidates and office holders, without regard to party affiliation, who by their activities, personal conduct and records of performance have ably demonstrated their concern for and interest in government responsible to the wills and needs of the people of Bexar County, Texas as expressed through the democratic processes, and for the preservation of real property rights, the integrity of real estate brokering and leasing as an independent profession, and for the legal and economic rights and welfare of real estate brokers and their families.
- To be governed by the SARPAC Bylaws.
Texas Association of REALTORS® Political Action Committee (TREPAC)
- Communicate to the membership the need and importance of contributing to TREPAC.
- Develop NEW and innovative events/programs to generate contributions to TREPAC.
- Attain contribution and membership participation goals set by T.A.R.
- Encourage participation in the '99 Club' Lone Star Statesman, Capitol Club, Sterling R, Crystal R and Golden R programs.
- Educate and communicate to the membership the purpose, effectiveness, structure, value and benefits of investing in TREPAC.
- Chairman/Vice Chairman to participate in the Governmental Affairs Committee.
Young Professionals Network (YPN)
- The Greater San Antonio Young Professionals Network Chapter is a group of emerging real estate professionals who seek to stay informed of the latest business tools from which local REALTOR® members can benefit.
- YPN seeks to create opportunities for professional development through education, technology, and as a provider of innovative resources.
- YPN also seeks to serve the community through philanthropic involvement and consumer advocacy.
Meetings of the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR) are open to all SABOR members, with the exception of Grievance Committee meetings (when cases are being reviewed) and Professional Standards Hearings.
Meetings of the Board of Directors are open, and SABOR members are welcome to attend subject to space limitations. However, the Chairman of the Board may declare an Executive Session at any time and guests will be excused. Guests wishing to speak to a specific issue at the Directors meeting should register with the Chairman of the Board prior to the call to order. If a guest does not register for a specific agenda item, their input will be at the discretion of the Chairman of the Board.
